Most beginner buying guides start with printer models. That is backward. Start with the work the printer will do, then the space it will live in, then the printer.

Do not ask "What is the best 3D printer?" Ask which path gives you the fastest useful learning:
Best if you are not sure what you will make. Use a library, makerspace, or print service for one or two objects.
Best if you already have repeated use cases: repairs, brackets, organizers, fixtures, prototypes, or hobby parts.
Start with FDM printing and PLA. PLA is widely recommended as an easy first material because it is inexpensive and forgiving, but it is not strong, heat-resistant, or magically emission-free. Treat PETG as the second material once you can get repeatable PLA prints.
A bedroom, closed office, or spot where you will hover over long prints is a bad default. Prefer a ventilated utility area, garage, workshop, or dedicated room.
Bambu A1 mini or A1 style: automatic calibration, polished software, fast path to first print. Tradeoff: more vendor ecosystem dependence.
Prusa MINI+ or MK4S style: strong manuals, support, parts, and repairability. Tradeoff: usually higher price for comparable speed or volume.
Creality Ender-style: lower entry cost and large community. Tradeoff: expect more self-support, tuning, and troubleshooting.
